Happy Holidays! We want to thank all who have supported the shelter in 2004 and wish all of you a wonderful holiday season.
Adopt a Senior Pet! Imagine losing everything you love in the world - your family, your home - and not understanding why, or what's to become of you in the future. That is the story of many of the senior pets who are taken to shelters through no fault of their own. Their owner dies. Their family moves and can't (or won't) take them along. A new baby arrives and suddenly the pet is an expendable inconvenience. Whatever the reason, these older animals are the least likely to be adopted. You can see their sad eyes week after week, as younger animals go to loving homes, and they remain behind. Everyone wants a puppy or kitten. Yet there are definite benefits to adopting an older pet! Senior pets can and do bond very strongly with adopters. Many seem to understand they have been given another chance at a happy life and are grateful for the opportunity to love someone and be loved in return. Instead of passing by the older pets, STOP! you maybe passing up the best friend you will ever have. Rabies Clinic There will be a rabies clinic at the Robertsdale Fire Hall on December 18th from 1:00-2:00 p.m. The cost per vaccine is $12.00. All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier. Cash For Critters DON’T THROW AWAY EMPTY INK JET AND LASER CARTRIDGES! Send them to the Huntingdon County Humane Society to help us earn money for pet-related needs. Empty ink jet and laser cartridges can be reused. For each recyclable cartridge you give us, the Huntingdon County Humane Society will receive a cash refund that could add up to much needed funds. Please note: not all cartridges are recyclable. At this time we cannot accept any cartridges made by or for Epson printers. Thank you!
