Among the
other species found throughout the parks, public lands, and
forests of the Laurel Highlands/Southern Alleghenies include the
eastern wood-pewee, barn swallow, blue jay, black-throated green
warbler, and the great horned owl.

Raptor
Center - Shaver’s Creek is one of only a few
facilities in central Pennsylvania licensed to conduct
educational programs with permanently injured (non-releasable)
birds of prey. With approximately twenty birds of over a dozen
species, the Raptor Center offers visitors an up-close view of
vultures, falcons, owls, hawks, and eagles.

Three thousand acres of habitat has been aggressively managed to
